Description
Lecture by R. Tripp Evans, professor of American art, Wheaton College. From the moment "American Gothic" captured the nation’s attention in 1930, audiences have interpreted Grant Wood’s dreamlike landscapes and forbidding portraits with little understanding of the artist. Tripp Evans will read from his new biography, "Grant Wood: A Life," and discuss the six-year project. Gallery hours extended to 5:30 to view the Grant Wood painting, "Portrait of Nan," in the Chazen galleries.
