Description
Alexander Levitsky, Slavic languages and literatures, Brown University, will propose a modification to Said’s concept of orientalism with the counterexample of 18th century Russian poet Gavrila Derzhavin, who, as Levitsky will argue, projected an Orient much earlier than the period analyzed in Said’s study.
