Description
How might we humans learn from our evolutionary heritage by observing the travels of plants? Plants' seeming fixity promotes in them a discerning receptivity and a wily opportunism, themes in Bergson and Deleuze. And as Riegl demonstrated, in art and architecture the vine-like form becomes a transformative force as it twines from culture to culture. Finally, Marks will turn to contemporary art in which plants are a living presence for examples of inspiring vegetable locomotion.
