Description
The WI IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) is a new initiative that is developing innovative ways to explore the universe. For example, the IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole is the largest detector ever built. It consists of more than 5000 optical sensors in a cubic kilometer of ice 2.5 kilometers below the surface. More than 200 scientists from 40 worldwide research institutions collectively participate in a research program to study high-energy neutrinos.
