Description
This course uses fiction to study how World War I was experienced. We examine Erich Maria Remarque's "All Quiet on the Western Front," Pat Barker's "Regeneration," Ernest Hemingway's "A Farewell to Arms," and Sebastian Barry's "A Long, Long Way" for their views of the war and for how well they work as novels. Highly recommended background: John Keegan's "The First World War." Tuesdays, Nov. 6-27."
