Description
Anda Xiong, UW Department of Physics, will explain the concept of a basin of attraction in a nonlinear dynamic system and show a means for classifying basins into four different types and quantifying their size. Examples of attractor basins will be produced using a 3-D printer, including the famous Lorenz system in an unusual regime where three attractors coexist.
