Description
Professor Victoria Thorstensson, visiting scholar from Nazarbayev University, will discuss one of the 19th centuries mismatches between art and reality: a gap between, on the one hand, the stereotypical visual image of the real-life nihilist (manifested in his stereotypical dress) and, on the other hand, the visual image of the nihilist in the fiction and life of the ideologues of the nihilist movement, such as Chernyshevsky.
