Description
How can we put the traumatic “loss of language” into scenic action without risking a universalization of trauma but also without reducing it merely to a ‘personal’ traumatization? Examines two specific works of "post-traumatic theatre" – Chétouane’s staging of Kleist’s “The Earthquake in Chile” and Rabih Mroué’s “Riding on a Cloud”. Not by accident both examples are closely related to what we might call the reappearance of story-telling or even the narrative turn in contemporary theatre.
