Max Kade Institute Lecture - Translation and the German-American Experience: Historical Letter Collections

Historical letters are a valuable source of information. However, letters written in German and other immigrant languages are only accessible to those who speak the languages today. This lecture considers the interdisciplinary nature of translation studies and discusses translation challenges and strategies, using the personal correspondence of Mathilde Franziska Anneke as an example. Viktorija Bilić is an Assistant Professor of German, Translation and Interpreting Studies at UW-Milwaukee.
