Nearly 50 years ago, on December 7, 1966, the ATS-1 meteorological satellite, carrying Verner Suomi’s Spin Scan Camera, blasted into space. The success of this mission made a huge impact on Suomi, meteorology, the University of Wisconsin, and the world (and on my life)! Learn how the view of our planet has changed in the last 50 years thanks to ATS and many other satellite missions launched by NASA and agencies around the world.
