Description
This talk will explore the discursive and material production of "The Real Glory" (1939). Through a careful reading of the film itself, the novella upon which it was based and extensive archival sources relating to the film's production, the lecture will explore race-making and the production of imperial cultures in Philippine-American history, with an emphasis on the representation of U. S. empire, on the one hand, and Christian-Muslim interactions, on the other.
