Dr. Jose-Alain Sahel, founder & director of Institut de la Vision in Paris and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, will talk about his research work aimed at identifying the mechanisms underlying cone functional loss in order to find potential clues for therapies aimed at preserving or restoring light-adapted and central vision and prevent blindness. He will share his efforts to restore cone or inner retinal function using optogenetics.
