								Lecture by Judd Kinzley (Assistant professor of Modern Chinese History, UW-Madison). This talk will focus on the centrality of the Soviet Union's role in shaping modern Xinjiang. Based on Professor Kinzley's forthcoming book, this talk will show the power of Soviet resource extraction enterprises in molding Chinese state institutions, patterns of central government investment, and Han-Uyghur relations.
