Super Resolution Microscopy In Vitro and In Vivo

Event Details

Date
Tuesday, December 9, 2008
Time
4-5 p.m.
Description
Mats Gustafsson, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, lectures about periodically structured illumination light and how it can extend the resolution of fluorescence microscopy beyond the classical limit through spatial frequency mixing. Dramatically greater resolution extension is possible if a nonlinearity can be introduced between the incoming illumination intensity and the outgoing emission rate.
Cost
