What if our concepts for describing the environmental violence are wrong, because they were made by the same systems that generate violence? In this Humanities Without Boundaries talk, historian and feminist science and technology studies scholar Michelle Murphy addresses this question by focusing on one of the oldest refineries in North America, which sits on Anishinaabe land and mirrors the history of Canadian settler colonialism.

Murphy is a Professor of History at University of Toronto.
