Description
The concert explores modern East Asian choral music and the mutual influences of European and East Asian musical aesthetics since the early twentieth century. It will be featuring arrangements of famous songs such as the Japanese Sakura (Cherry Blossoms), arranged by Toru Takemitsu, and Mo-Li-Hua (Jasmine Flower), a popular Chinese folk song used variously as a national anthem and for the Olympics, arranged by the leading Korean composer Hyo-won Woo and other recent compositions.
Cost
Student tickets are $10, Seniors $15, General audience $20, available through the Festival Choir website (festivalchoirmadison.org) or at the door.
