Professor Close will discuss Nicaraguan director Gabriel Serra Argüello’s La Parka (The Reaper, 2013) -- a documentary film shot primarily in a Mexican slaughterhouse; it circulated widely at international festivals, and was screened for the Mexican Senate and nominated for a U.S. Academy Award.

LACIS organizes a weekly lecture series during the academic year. These events feature a catered luncheon on a first-come first-served basis, and are FREE and open to the public.
