Prof. Nicolas Christin: A Deep Dive in the Deep Web

Online anonymous marketplaces, (e.g., Silk Road) enable buyers and sellers to transact with anonymity guarantees far superior to those available in online or offline alternatives,
thanks to cryptocurrencies and network anonymization. I will describe insights gained from eight years of active measurement of the online anonymous market ecosystem and highlight the scientific challenges in collecting and analyzing such data at scale. I will also describe insights derived from this work.
