Description
Uncertainty in global terrestrial biosphere model (TBMs) projections of the terrestrial carbon sink is high–some models even predict the land may switch this century from a sink to a source of CO2, which in turn would reduce the allowable CO2 emissions that would keep us within a given temperature rise. In this talk, I highlight the progress made, and challenges faced, in developing a carbon cycle data assimilation system to better quantify and reduce uncertainty in the ORCHIDEE TBM vegetation..
