INES - Capita Selecta in Nuclear Safety

The presentation will talk about the IAEA Safety Standards, which is a complete set of nuclear safety rules and regulations, to be used by its Member States, here with focus on its ´Design Extension Conditions`, often also called ´Beyond Design Basis Accidents`, and the fundamentals of the management of such accidents. Then a short overview of major lessons learned in the Fukushima-Daiichi accident of 2011. Finally, some personal perspectives on future nuclear safety research.
