Rapid Holocene Deglaciation of the Laurentide Ice Sheet: An Analogue to Our Future?

Event Details

Date
Monday, March 9, 2009
Time
3:15 p.m.
Description
The response of the remaining ice sheets to global warming, particularly the Greenland Ice Sheet, is the largest uncertainty in predicting the future rise in sea level. Future sea level rise contribution by 2100 C.E. from the Greenland Ice Sheet is probably underestimated by 10-30 cm in the most recent IPCC report.
