Nested Partitions (NP) is a recently developed meta-heuristic approach for solving large-scale optimization problems. It is a partitioning and sampling-based algorithm, and guides the search to concentrate on the most promising region, which is determined by the promising index. This talk presents statistical promising indexes for NP based on the extreme value theory in statistics.
