Description
Ralph Cintron, University of Illinois-Chicago, will speak about his latest work in the anthropology of democracy, using ethnographic interviews to understand why and how the Illinois chapter of the Minutemen have been opposing undocumented workers and the immigration rights movement before and after the immigration rights marches of 2006. The lecture frames their perspectives as logical consequences of the nation-state form based on citizenship and democratic rights.
