					Description

Galen McKinley is a Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University and the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. Her research focuses on the physical, chemical, and ecological drivers of the ocean's anthropogenic carbon sink. This talk will discuss observation-based and modeling approaches currently used to quantify air-sea carbon fluxes, introduce a machine learning approach that merges data and models both to develop a best-estimate of air-sea CO2 fluxes for 1959-2021.
