Description
This anthropological talk draws on post-colonial and Black Studies scholarship to examine how an educational reform known as the Liberian Educational Advancement Program (LEAP) recreates plantation labor regimes that prioritize international shareholders’ interests. Based on 18 months of anthropological field research, analysis demonstrates that LEAP investors and networks reproduce and profit from racialized hierarchies of capital extraction embedded in histories of colonization/imperialism.
