					Description

In the 19th century German-singing choirs became cornerstones of many German American communities. They organized singing festivals or "Sängerfests," that ranged from local gatherings of a few choirs to mass events with thousands of singers. Exhibit materials are from the collections of the Max Kade Institute and Mills Music Library.
