Understanding polar spectral responses in the far-infrared spectrum is crucial to fully characterize Earth’s global energy balance. The poles emit more outgoing longwave radiation than they receive through solar radiation and global transport, however, there is a lack of polar measurements in the far-infrared portion of the longwave spectrum, specifically for wavelengths longer than 15 μm.
