Description
During the Little Ice Age, agricultural communities throughout the Great Lakes region navigated a colder, drier climate, as well as emergent European colonialism to participate in widespread production of maize. While significant research has focused on the material dynamics of these communities, there have been few studies of their agricultural systems. This presentation discusses investigations into the benefits, variation and ecological impacts of Native American agriculture in IL and WI.
