Description
The Venere Lute Quartet, one of the few professional lute ensembles, will bring to life the music of Vincenzo Galilei -- a member of the Florentine Camerata, whose work as a music theorist influenced his son Galileo's scientific experiments -- in a performance designed especially for MEMF. Pre-concert lecture by Grant Herreid at 6:30 p.m., "Apollo's Lyre: The Lute in Renaissance Life and Thought."
