Description
Join WUD SoPo and academic, author, and social theorist Dr. Joy DeGruy for a lecture on Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. Dr. Joy's theory explores the ways that multigenerational trauma and oppression manifest in African-American communities as a direct result of chattel slavery, and how to promote resilience and healing in a systemically racist society. Dr. Joy has spoken at the United Nations, Harvard University, and UNESCO, and will now share her expertise with UW-Madison. This event will take place at the H.F. DeLuca Forum in the Discovery Building at 6 p.m. on April 8th. No registration is necessary and the event is free for all attendees. This lecture is made possible by the generosity of the 'ZBT Speaker Program Fund', a fund created by a group of ZBT alumni from the Class of 1969 in honor of their 50th anniversary.
