Description
The Department of Anthropology is hosting a colloquium featuring Heba Gowayed. The talk examines how Syrian refugees in the U.S., Canada, and Germany are affected by resettlement policies, showing that human potential is shaped, transformed, or diminished by the receiving states. These policies are rooted in historically unequal social welfare systems, revealing how states contribute to reproducing inequality. The colloquium will take place in 8417 Social Sciences, with a reception afterwards.
