Eleven scholars from the U.S. and abroad will present papers that investigate the phenomenon of 20th- and 21st-century architecture making references to pre-modern Islamic monuments and built environments. Sponsored by the Anonymous Fund and the Howard and Ellen Louise Schwartz Fund, with co-sponsorship from the Department of Art History, the L&S Dean's Office, Middle East Studies, and the Center for Design and Material Culture.
