This talk will explore the intersection of federal Indian law and Native American health, examining how historical and contemporary legal frameworks have contributed to pervasive health inequities. Drawing insights from the environmental health field, opportunities to uphold federal treaty and trust responsibilities are discussed as well as ways to integrate Indigenous knowledges into policy and practice, fostering more equitable and culturally responsive health outcomes for Native communities.
