Description
Registration required.
In 2005, 350 letters dated between 1841 and 1887 and written in the old German Kurrent script were discovered. They were written by members of the Best/Pabst family of brewer fame and are now being translated by graduate students in the UWM Translation program. This presentation will discuss the translation process and give examples of the already translated letters that bring Milwaukee history to life. Viktorija Bilić is Associate Professor of Translation Studies at UWM.
