This is a presentation of two long-term archaeology projects in northwestern Ecuador. With the discovery of over 300 archeological sites and excavations at a handful of those sites, much information has been gathered about the indigenous inhabitants in a region of 6,000 km2. Though sites reach as far back as a preceramic occupation around 7,000 years ago, most of the sites focus on the last 500 years prior to the Spanish conquest.
