Sugar maple “decline disease” – a threat to a Northwoods icon

Sugar maple, our state tree, is an icon of the Northwoods. Although the Wisconsin DNR “Sugar Maple Report” tells us that bigger, older sugar maples have become more common, sugar maple mortality has increased over 70% during the last four decades.
