Dr. Kimberly Wortmann is an assistant professor at Wake Forest University, affiliated with African and Middle East/South Asia Studies. Trained in Islamic and African Studies, she researches transregional knowledge networks between East Africa and the Persian Gulf, focusing on Ibadhi-run Islamic schools and charities in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and Oman. She uses Swahili and Arabic and has lived in Uganda, Yemen, and Kenya.
