The Future of Area Studies

We are entering a very difficult time for Area Studies Programs. The federal funds that have been our lifeblood are under serious threat for next year and future years. We are already cutting back on our programs which shows both the budgetary problems and our adaptability as a collective to maintain our excellence and culture. My hope is that our strong culture of community will keep us relevant to fostering learning about Africa and its diasporas.
