Description
Peter G. Wolynes, University of California, San Diego, will discuss the notion of energy landscapes in the contexts of condensed matter science and biochemistry. In these areas the mathematical description of landscapes has become relatively solid and also very fruitful. The specific examples of landscape theory discussed include glasses in the world of material science, the protein folding problem and gene regulation.
