Description
Mount Fuji commands attention. Visible to millions in Tokyo, its iconic silhouette is recognizable around the world. At the same time, industries located near Fuji connect it to economic and political networks with global reach. By examining the representation and material exploitation of Fuji over the years, this talk by historian Andrew Bernstein will show how Japan's premier mountain has become an especially potent and far-reaching contributor to our material and imagined worlds.
