Held v. State of Montana was the first ever constitutional climate case to go to
trial. The 16 youth Plaintiffs in Held won a historic ruling against the state,
holding that laws promoting fossil fuels were unconstitutional. Held forges a
legal pathway that courts everywhere can take to protect climate rights of
