Description
Seçil Binboğa examines how alarming 1952–54 U.S. air intelligence near Turkey’s Soviet border pushed Washington to use Turkey’s strategic position, reshaping the landscape through Cold War military projects. A key element was the Aircraft Control and Warning radar network, whose maps reveal expanding U.S. influence. Binboğa, an architectural historian at the University of Minnesota, studies military infrastructures and U.S. imperialism in Turkey.
