Satisfying Sgraffito

Event Details

Date
Wednesday, March 4, 2026
Time
6-9 p.m.
Location
Studio O, Memorial Union
Description
Discover the beauty of sgraffito, a classic pottery decorating technique that combines layered underglaze with hand-carved detail. In this workshop, participants will start with a premade leather-hard clay bowl, apply underglaze, and then carefully incise designs to reveal the clay body beneath. The result is a striking, high-contrast pattern that transforms a simple vessel into a one-of-a-kind functional artwork. Participants must plan to return to the Studios three weeks after class to pick up their creations after kiln firing.
Cost
