Dire Wolves, Dodos, and Dinosaurs: Media Messages and Public Perceptions of De-Extinction

Recent projects by the company Colossal Biosciences have brought media attention to the topic of de-extinction. To date, a small body of research has explored how members of the public perceive de-extinction endeavors & how different forms of media use relate to it. Extending this research, the present project draws on theories of framing, priming, & diffusion of innovations to consider how media messages may influence beliefs about and support for reviving extinct species through gene editing.
