ipeds-wrangler: a Python package for wrangling IPEDS data
Event Details
Tracy Reuter will present The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is like a higher education census. IPEDS currently includes more than 1 billion data points: ~5,000 annual measures per ~6,000 schools (including UW-Madison) since 1980. These data enable a wide variety of use cases, such as benchmarking schools. However, existing IPEDS software has limited customization and, importantly, only provides simple descriptive statistics. Here I will present a new Python package (ipeds-wrangler) which aims to overcome these challenges. This package is still in the early phases of development, but will ultimately improve the accessibility and interoperability of these data.
