Reimagining Civic Engagement Amid Violence: An Ecuadorian Youth Activist’s Perspective

This session examines how youth-led advocacy organizations in violence-affected places in Ecuador contribute to reimagining civic engagement and participatory governance. Participants will explore how young leaders navigate structural violence and adult centrism to advance human rights and peacebuilding agendas. They will also engage in an interactive group simulation to take on the role of youth organizers to tackle social issues in the local context of Madison, Wisconsin.
