Conservation abroad: how to adopt it

In Kenya, community-based conservation has emerged as an effective solution by involving local residents directly in conservation efforts. Join UW-Madison undergraduate Nico Gitterle, who, during his spring 2026 study abroad experience in Kenya, learned how this approach gives communities a voice in decision-making, creates economic opportunities through conservation and tourism, and reduces pressure to sell land for development.
