AOS Colloquium – Poushali Rathod
PhD Defense: An Investigation of the Structure and Evolution of Quasi-Geostrophic Omega in Occluded Extratropical Cyclones Using an Automated Identification Scheme
Event Details
Date
Monday, November 2, 2026
Time
3:30-4:30 p.m.
Location
Description
Poushali Rathod, AOS graduate student, will demonstrate that vertical motion in occluded cyclones is neither spatially nor temporally uniform. By linking this variability to distinct dynamical and kinematic processes, her dissertation provides new insights into the mechanisms that govern the structure, evolution and climatological diversity of occluded cyclones.
