Description
When Soviet films were shown in the US in the 1930s there were complaints of tempo and propagandistic appeals but their feature films were of relatively high technical quality. One of the practices to achieve crisper images was "white film": filming white elements against white backgrounds using sunlight, a distinguishing factor of the Soviet films.
