This talk by Prof. Christina Bambrick (University of Notre Dame) examines two proposals to shore up liberal institutions and political life that involve modifying conventional understandings of liberalism, and considers whether modern proposals to cultivate liberal virtues and constitutional duties actually track older versions of liberal thought and politics that emphasize virtue and duty.
